ACL Performance offers Race Series rod bearing sets for a wide range of vehicles. These high performance tri-metal engine bearings are designed to withstand higher RPM conditions. They feature a high-strength overlay plate with reduced thickness for improved fatigue properties. Select the crankshaft undersize and quantity recommended for your year/make and engine application. Additional details: * Hardened steel backs on all rod bearings to improve the support of the bearing lining and assist with bearing retention in the housing. * Increased crush for improved bearing retention * Elimination of flash plating on the back of the bearings to improve heat transfer through the bearings and to maximize the grip between the bearings and its housing * Increased eccentricity to compensate for bore distortion at high RPM and to assist in the formation of hydrodynamic oil films * 3/4 in. grooved main bearings to optimize bearing load carrying surface area and oil flow to the conrod bearings * Tight consistent wall tolerances to help you maintain consistent clearances * Enlarged ID chamfers on bearing edges (where required) to accommodate large fillet radius on performance crankshafts

The alloy is strengthened by the addition of manganese and chromium. SM-Series crankshaft main bearings feature a traditional steel-backing, aluminum bonding layer, and the aluminum bearing alloy. Clevite P-Series main bearings are the oldest members of the Clevite 77 bearing family and are intended for high-revving engines. To compensate for the high-load factors and distortion in these engines, these bearings have higher eccentricity and a high crush factor. P-Series bearings are constructed of tri-metal cast copper lead. They have a steel back for support, a cast copper lead lining to withstand the loads of engine operation, and an electroplated babbit overlay on the running surface to provide searing surface qualities. In addition, the oil grooves on most applications extend all the way around both halves for better oiling. Clevite P-Series main bearings are an ideal design, producing a degree of conformability, embedability, slipperiness, and fatigue resistance, not found in original equipment and competitive bimetal bearings.

Clevite P-Series rod bearings are built on hardened-steel backings with extra-thin overlays, and their lower sections have dowel holes for use with aluminum rods, and there are extra-clearance variations available with an additional 0.001 in. of clearance.
