Howards Cams Extreme Duty X-Beam Forged Billet Connecting Rods
These Extreme Duty X-Beam forged billet connecting rods are designed to provide the ultimate in strength and durability. These rods start with certified 4340 aircraft-quality steel and are fully CNC-machined on the newest generation of equipment to ensure the removal of all surface imperfections. A precision EDM laser burns a hole from the top of the rod bearing journal to the wrist pin bushing for an extra supply of oil to the piston pin. They are fully stress-relieved and shot-peened to ensure that no stress risers remain. The beam is profiled for weight savings and the cap has been lightened for easier balancing. They are specially heat-treated using a multi-phase process and the rod caps are double-ribbed for added strength. Their rod cap alignment dowels to keep the bearing caps precisely aligned. Howards Cams Extreme Duty X-Beam forged connecting rods are bronze-bushed for floating pins, while 7/16 in. ARP cap screw fasteners secure the caps.

Manley Pro Series I-beam connecting rods are forged from 4340 aircraft-quality vacuum degassed material. They're fully machined to produce the strongest rods possible. These rods are shot-peened to Mil specs and are 100 percent individually magnafluxed. They feature 7/16 in. Scat Engine Rotating Assemblies
Scat engine rotating assemblies are available with either a high-quality Scat forged 4340 crankshaft or Scat's Series 9000 cast crankshaft, plus I-beam or H-beam connecting rods with 7/16 in. or 3/8 in. cap screw bolts. For maximum power and reliability, Scat adds rod and main bearings from King, Federal Mogul, or Clevite 77, depending upon the application—and pistons and piston rings made by such well-known manufacturers as SRP/JE, Ross, KB, Mahle, Diamond, and Probe. Kits with cast and standard forged pistons have standard rings; kits with premium forged pistons have file-fit rings. Nearly 800 Scat kits are available; order the package tailored for fitment with your engine application.

When it comes to building horsepower and torque, you need to start at the bottom and work your way up. Their assemblies feature 4340 forged steel crankshaft and H-beam connecting rods, either 7/16 in. ARP 8740 cap screws with a 750 hp rating for LS engines/900 hp for big blocks, or optional ARP 2000 cap screws for up to 1,500 hp.
