Melling M-Select Class 1 camshafts are part of their full line of high performance camshafts graded from Class 1 to Class 4. Class 1 camshafts have durations of 200 to 215 degrees at .050 in. lift. They feature good idle quality with strong low-rpm torque and midrange performance. These cams will work well with stock or slightly modified engines with either manual or automatic transmissions. For maximum increases in low-end torque, engine vacuum, and improved idle quality, Rhoads V-Max variable duration flat tappet lifters are the answer. These unique lifters are designed to significantly increase low-end torque and engine vacuum. This makes them the best choice for hot street, performance marine, and all racing applications. Typical vacuum increases range between 3 to 5 in. at idle when used with bigger cams. They are fully adjustable and require an adjustable valvetrain. Adjustment is similar to solid lifters--simply use a feeler gauge to adjust the exact amount of lift reduction you want, anywhere from .010 in. to .030 in., and that is exactly what you get at idle. Duration is reduced between 5 and 20 degrees at .050 in. lift, depending on the adjustment. As the rpm increases, so does your valve lift and duration. Complete lift and duration restoration take place at approximately 4,000 rpm. V-Max series lifters are also particularly suited for racing applications with vacuum rules. You can run more cam than your competition while still meeting vacuum requirements, giving you the performance advantage.

Rhoads Original hydraulic flat tappet variable duration lifters are famous for increasing low-end torque, engine vacuum, and idle quality on engines equipped with performance hydraulic cams, while maintaining maximum top-end power. Better fuel economy and improved emissions quality are often reported by customers with Rhoads lifters. The unique construction of Rhoads Original hydraulic lifters reduces lift and duration at idle by approximately .010 in. to .020 in. Duration is reduced by approximately 10 to 15 degrees. Melling timing chain sets are designed for use with either performance or stock cams. They have a solid-bushing chain for a true bearing surface that rolls with the sprockets, eliminating chain stretch. The crank gears are machined from stress-proof steel. Most Melling timing chain sets have three keyways to ensure accurate timing for early or late model vehicles, and to allow you to set the cam timing at 4 degrees advanced, 4 degrees retarded, or stock.
