Chevrolet Performance Stock Replacement Non-DOD Camshafts
If you're looking for a cost-effective camshaft solution to delete that pesky DOD—Chevrolet Performance stock replacement non-DOD camshafts are the answer. They're designed to work with OEM valve springs/pushrods in the DOD-equipped Gen 4 trucks. These OEM camshafts are standard equipment on non-DOD 5.3L trucks. Since they come as a single-bolt style, new timing gear won't be necessary. Just swap cams and additional DOD delete parts (sold separately) and you're ready to roll! A fairly stock truck shouldn't require dyno tuning; however, the DOD system must be disabled in ECU for proper functionality. It is advised to consult with your tuner for more information. They have a solid-bushing chain for a true bearing surface that rolls with the sprockets, eliminating chain stretch. The crank gears are machined from stress-proof steel. Most Melling timing chain sets have three keyways to ensure accurate timing for early or late model vehicles, and to allow you to set the cam timing at 4 degrees advanced, 4 degrees retarded, or stock. However, 50-state (stock replacement) sets have single keyways. The chains are available in several styles, such as single or double roller, single non-roller, and link belt.
