Clevite H-Series Rod Bearings

Clevite H-Series rod bearings were developed primarily for use in NASCAR type racing but are suitable for all types of competition engines. These H-Series bearings have a medium level of eccentricity, high crush factor, and have hardened steel backs and thin overlays. They also have enlarged chamfers for greater crankshaft fillet clearance and are made without flash plating for better seating. Bearings with .001 in. extra clearance are available for standard size shafts and with or without dowel holes. H-Series bearings are recommended for use with crankshafts that have oversize fillets and where engines run in the medium to high rpm range. They should also be used if contact patterns obtained with Clevite P-Series bearings are too narrow. Contact patterns should ideally cover 2/3 to 3/4 of the bearing surface.

Clevite P-Series Rod Bearings

P-Series rod bearings are the oldest members of the Clevite 77 performance bearing family. They're intended for high-revving engines, especially those where the high rpm cause the rod bores to narrow. To compensate for this distortion, these direct replacements have higher eccentricity and a high crush factor. Clevite P-Series rod bearings are built on hardened-steel backings with extra-thin overlays, and their lower sections have dowel holes for use with aluminum rods, and there are extra-clearance variations available with an additional 0.001 in. of clearance. Order the model designed for your vehicle and engine application.

Clevite Coated H-Series Main Bearings

Clevite coated H-Series main bearings were developed primarily for NASCAR racing, but are also well-suited to other types of competition engines. They are especially good for engines that run at medium-to-high revs. They have steel backings with carefully selected overlays and a high crush factor, plus a medium level of eccentricity. These H-Series bearings feature Clevite's exclusive TriArmor coating, the industry's only moly/graphite treatment. The sophisticated blend, in a low-friction PTFE polymer base, offers extraordinary protection and lubricity. Clevite H-Series bearings have enlarged chamfers at the sides for greater crank-fillet clearance and are made without flash plating for better seating. They come with 180 degree oil grooves, and can be ordered with an extra 0.001 in. of clearance if needed.

Speed-Pro Competition Series Rod Bearings

If you're building a high-level competition engine, you'll definitely want to consider Speed-Pro Competition Series rod bearings. They were developed in the trenches in NASCAR and Pro Stock competition, so you know they're tough. These bearings are built on premium 1020AK steel backings and overlaid with Speed-Pro's super-duty H-14 alloy. That's covered with a nickel barrier, followed by a thin lead-tin-copper overplate. However, unlike other performance bearings, there is no flash tin layer on top of that. That's because Speed-Pro engineers have determined that such a layer can actually move around under high performance conditions, sometimes resulting in undesirable consequences. Order the set designed for your vehicle and engine application.

Clevite V-Series Rod Bearings

If you liked the results that you used to get with Vandervell bearings--especially their higher conformability--then you should love Clevite V-Series rod bearings, which basically duplicate the Vandervell items. Built on un-plated, hardened-steel backings for better dimensional accuracy and bore contact, they have low-to-medium eccentricity. The biggest difference between V-Series and other Clevite 77 bearings is their lead-indium surface alloy, which gives them that extra conformability. V-Series bearings are available in narrower versions to provide greater crank-fillet clearance, as well as in extra-clearance variations that provide an additional 0.001 or 0.002 in. of clearance.

Sealed Power A-Series Rod Bearings

Sealed Power A-Series rod bearings can actually polish the journals on your crankshaft. That's because there's a small percentage of silicon mixed in with the aluminum and tin that make up the bearing-surface alloy. The silicon is there for wear resistance, but its toughness actually smoothes the journals of a crank with a surface that hasn't been optimized! This special surface alloy is laid over a high-strength 1010 steel backing and delivers improved seizure and corrosion resistance, as well as better wall variance control. It also helps to minimize debris embedding, which can score the crank's surface. Order the replacement bearings designed for your vehicle make and engine application.

King HP-Series Rod Bearings

King HP-Series rod bearings were developed mainly for drag race applications needing a material harder than the Babbitt top layer. These applications demanded a structure that could withstand high loads for short durations and still offer higher embeddability and compatibility. In response, King developed the HP-Series, featuring the Alecular metal structure. The HP-Series is also suited for many performance applications with nodular cast iron crankshafts, such as street, strip, and some levels of Circle Track racing. Order the set recommended for your vehicle. HP-Series bearings are particularly suitable for the following cases: * When a tri-metal bearing's Babbitt overlay extrudes over the sides, migrates to one end, or is physically removed by the crankshaft * When the intermediate layer of a tri-metal bearing is exposed, damaging the crank journal and requiring expensive grinding or replacement * When contaminants enter the oil stream, scratching and damaging the crankshaft journals

King XP-Series Rod Bearings

King XP-Series rod bearings feature advanced metallurgical and geometric technologies that meet extreme performance loads. They were developed for all performance applications that use forged steel aftermarket crankshafts and produce high loads for extended periods. King focuses on one product—bearings—and nothing else. Their innovative race-only Xtreme Performance Max Black Tri-Metal rod bearings have a 24 percent stronger overlay and 17 percent more fatigue strength by using a micro process called SecureBond. Built with enhanced tri-metal, King XP-Series rod bearings layer copper-lead construction with a nickel plate barrier and a lead/tin/copper Babbitt overlay over a steel backing in an adhesion process that provides superior stability and durability. King's advanced control measures hit a bull's-eye, maintaining wall thickness tolerances far tighter than their competitors—at an amazing +/- .0001 in.! XP-Series rod bearings are narrowed on the crank cheek side with increased crush height for improved bearing-to-bore contact, heat transfer, and reduced spin potential in high-rpm applications.
