The radiator cap is a small but important component of your vehicle’s cooling system. When functioning properly, the cap keeps contaminates and excess air out of your cooling system. Excess air in the system reduces cooling efficiency and can lead to problems like engine overheating.

The radiator cap is a small but important component of your vehicle’s cooling system. When functioning properly, the cap keeps contaminates and excess air out of your cooling system. Excess air in the system reduces cooling efficiency and can lead to problems like engine overheating.
Most radiator caps for modern applications are designed to let a specified amount of pressure build in the system as the coolant heats up and expands. If the system’s pressure exceeds the specified radiator cap pressure, a valve in the cap opens to let coolant flow into the coolant reservoir. As the coolant temperature decreases and the system pressure drops, the cap allows the coolant to return to the main cooling system. For added safety, some caps come equipped with pressure-release levers to vent excess pressure before the cap is removed.
If you’re experiencing cooling problems, you may want to start with a new radiator cap. We have you covered with a wide selection of stock replacement radiator caps for just about anything you drive. We also carry radiator caps with built-in temperature gauges so you know just what’s happening inside your cooling system. When it’s time to upgrade to an aftermarket aluminum radiator, top it off with a billet aluminum radiator cap in a variety of eye-catching finishes such as natural, chrome, polished, and anodized colors to complement your engine bay.
You can shop radiator caps with pressure ratings from 0 to 42 psi in a variety of styles from trusted brands like Stant, Moroso, Be Cool, Meziere, and more. And remember, everything we sell is backed by the best customer service in the industry.
