Superchargers

Superchargers are driven directly by your engine. They are attached to your crankshaft by a belt, so as engine speed increases, so does your supercharger speed. You can increase or decrease the speed of the supercharger by changing the size of the pulleys, allowing you to fine-tune your boost to the desired level. Because of their relationship to engine speed, superchargers commonly provide a power curve that increases with engine rpm, delivering boost with rapid response.

There are two main styles of superchargers: Roots and centrifugal. Roots-style superchargers use a pair of rotors within a housing to force air at higher than atmospheric pressure into your engines. The rotors can have a varying number of lobes and may be twisted, affecting how the air flows through the supercharger. Centrifugal style superchargers utilize a gearbox to spin a shaft, which is connected to compressor wheel, drawing in ambient air and compressing it on its way to the engine.

Turbochargers

Turbochargers utilize the exhaust gases produced by your engine to spin a turbine wheel located inside the turbocharger housing, which is connected to a compressor wheel by a shaft. As the two wheels turn, ambient air is sucked into the turbocharger’s compressor inlet and pushed into the engine. That air charge is often passed through an intercooler to increase its density.

Choosing the right turbocharger kit for your vehicle can be daunting, with factors like tubing size, A/R ratio, and multiple other factors to consider. APR DTR8868 Turbocharger Systems

APR DTR8868 turbocharger systems are direct replacements for the EA839 3.0L turbo engine. These upgrades include matching software for various vehicles and mods, providing up to 620 hp (571 AWHP) and 422 lbs.-ft. of torque (572 AWT), depending on vehicle platform and fueling, all while keeping emissions components unmodified. The software supports premium pump fuel grades, race fuel grades, and even ethanol on the S4, S5, and SQ5 platforms with fueling upgrades. For dedicated race cars, the turbocharger is designed with plenty of headroom to go even further on your own. The APR Stage 3 software is designed to avoid hard-spiking in the lower RPM band or running on the edge of what the factory rods and pistons should handle. Particular attention was paid toward component protections for exhaust gas temperature (EGT), back pressure safety (EMAP), turbocharger discharge temperatures, and fueling system capabilities. As rising exhaust gas temperatures require more fuel, the system will lower lambda to cool EGT without taxing the injection system with excessive on-times. Secondary protections will limit output for safety. The HPFP software helps increase headroom without over-driving the pressure to the injection system. The need for limiting power under extreme prolonged use (like tracking the vehicle), is greatly reduced, and the optional upgraded HPFP dramatically increases ethanol output. Note: Specific software is required to use this system, and an upgrade from lower stage systems is included for various vehicles. Software compatibility must be checked before purchase as the software installs to your vehicle's factory ECU. Currently, software can only be installed by an authorized APR dealer. Software is available in two formats: for use with the stock HPFP or for use with the APR HPFP. APR DTR6054 turbocharger systems are direct replacements for the EA888 Gen 3 engine. These upgrades include matching software for various vehicles and mods, providing up to 491 hp and 425 lbs.-ft. of torque, depending on vehicle platform and fueling, all while keeping emissions components unmodified. The software supports premium pump fuel grades, race fuel grades, and even ethanol on the Golf R, S3, and TT S platform with fueling upgrades. For dedicated race cars the turbocharger is designed with plenty of headroom to go even further on your own! Designed and developed from the ground up by APR, DTR6054 turbochargers do not require a core and there's no additional downtime. They are built using an aluminum anti-surge compressor cover with appropriate A/R matched to a larger aircraft-grade, 6061 billet aluminum 60mm compressor wheel, a turbine housing cast with high-temperature 310 stainless steel to take the heat and abuse seen on a road course, and a nickel-based superalloy K418 high-flow 54mm turbine wheel. A German dual ceramic ball bearing center section provides smooth and reliable operation with a better transient response, eliminating the factory failure-prone journal bearing design. Each kit includes the complete turbocharger with compressor inlet pipe, compressor outlet hose, T-bolt clamps, gaskets, O-rings, exhaust ring, exhaust V-band, exhaust manifold gasket, studs, bolts, and washers, oil and coolant line O-rings, and APR's ECU upgrades for select vehicles. Agency Power's intercooler race duct covers for the Can-Am Maverick X3 is a product that all X3 owners will want to be equipped with! The Agency Power upgraded intercooler duct cover increases the center scoop from 1.5 in. to 4 in. tall and each side scoop from 1.5 in. to 2 in. with all keeping a 4 inch width. The intercooler duct cover increases the inlet air flow by over 40 percent from 32 cu. in. to 46 cu. in. Made from a durable ABS plastic similar to the stock unit, the duct covers have a smooth black finish and feature the AP logo.
