Superchargers and turbochargers are an incredibly popular way to make gobs of power and maximize the efficiency of your vehicle—and Summit Racing Equipment has the best selection around! Let’s break down the main differences of each, so you can figure out what route to take on your own ride!
Superchargers are driven directly by your engine. They are attached to your crankshaft by a belt, so as engine speed increases, so does your supercharger speed. You can increase or decrease the speed of the supercharger by changing the size of the pulleys, allowing you to fine-tune your boost to the desired level. Because of their relationship to engine speed, superchargers commonly provide a power curve that increases with engine rpm, delivering boost with rapid response.
There are two main styles of superchargers: Roots and centrifugal. Roots-style superchargers use a pair of rotors within a housing to force air at higher than atmospheric pressure into your engines. The rotors can have a varying number of lobes and may be twisted, affecting how the air flows through the supercharger. Centrifugal style superchargers utilize a gearbox to spin a shaft, which is connected to compressor wheel, drawing in ambient air and compressing it on its way to the engine.
Turbochargers utilize the exhaust gases produced by your engine to spin a turbine wheel located inside the turbocharger housing, which is connected to a compressor wheel by a shaft. As the two wheels turn, ambient air is sucked into the turbocharger’s compressor inlet and pushed into the engine. That air charge is often passed through an intercooler to increase its density.
Choosing the right turbocharger kit for your vehicle can be daunting, with factors like tubing size, A/R ratio, and multiple other factors to consider. However, Summit Racing makes it easy by offering turbocharger kits custom-designed for a wide range of vehicles, so you can get all the benefits without major engineering work.

Okay, yes, there are times you wish you could have that signature turbo blow-off sound, but not all the time. Go Fast Bits Deceptor Pro II TMS direct-fit motorized blow-off valves deliver just what you need—the ability to control how loud your BOV sound is, from the driver's seat. Featuring GFB's patented Venting Bias Adjustment System, coupled with remote electronic control, Deceptor Pro II units allow you to infinitely vary how much air is recirculated, and how much is vented to atmosphere. So, if your car typically suffers issues, such as backfiring and stalling when venting more than a certain percentage of air to atmosphere, the controller can easily be configured to limit the maximum venting ratio. This way, you can achieve a blow-off sound without having to put up with the issues. GFB Deceptor Pro II features and benefits: * Adjust your BOV venting bias electronically on-the-fly * Revised porting to optimize flow and venting bias * Compact design fits in most factory valve locations * Bore finishing process ensures a lifetime of reliable operation * Direct bolt-on for most vehicles available * Remote proportional venting bias/volume control- from silent to loud or anywhere in between * Sleek, compact in-car BOV volume controller with backlit dial * End-point adjustment to control maximum vent to atmosphere bias setting * Volume adjustment mechanism driven by a high-torque geared electric motor * Durable, low-friction gear train supported by precision sealed ball-bearing * Supplied with all parts and wiring required to have it up and running quickly and easily

Want to increase or decrease the boost on your variable vane (i.e. VNT/VGT) turbo diesel? Is the factory boost curve erratic and all over the place? Blown an engine with the factory boost control system? Then the Go Fast Bits V2 VNT boost controller is for you! It's common knowledge that some engines with vacuum operated ECU controlled VNT/VGT turbos suffer erratic boost behavior—to the point where turbo or engine failures can occur, even on completely stock vehicles. The V2 takes over from the factory ECU control and ensures a stable and repeatable boost curve, which your engine will thank you for! Cleverly packaged within a black anodized CNC-machined 6061 aluminium housing are two individual adjustment dials, each having a separate and unique adjustment function. The first dial sets the boost pressure, while the other is used to adjust the boost rise rate, i.e. how fast the turbo spools—meaning you can tune your boost to suit any driving conditions. Manual Boost Controllers may lack the extra features of an EBC (Electronic Boost Controller), but they get the job done! When you need simple, reliable, set-and-forget boost control, a Manual Boost Controller is hard to beat. Installation is as simple as connecting a couple of hoses, and setup is as easy as turning the adjustment until you hit your target. Once that's done, you can forget about it and drive your car. Being a rugged, mechanical device, it will never vary or fail, no matter how much abuse you can throw at it. GFB Manual Boost Controllers are available in two types: one is suited for conventional pneumatic wastegates, and the other is for use with vacuum-actuated VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbine)/VGT (Variable Geometry Turbine) turbos that are commonly used on diesel engines.
