You don't have to suffer constant carburetor issues in your hot rod or race car anymore. K&N Electronic Carburetor Injection (ECI) are self-tuning bolt-on systems that add a supplemental fuel source to optimize engine performance. And, since they are supplemental systems, you can tap into your current fuel supply and there is no need to run a return line back to your fuel tank. Users have the option to set detailed parameters, including their desired air-to-fuel ratio, injector pulse width, shot volume, progressive injector firing, and minimum/maximum rpm range. The brain of K&N's ECI systems is the ECU, which vigilantly monitors the input from the oxygen sensor to ensure an optimal air-to-fuel ratio is maintained. If the system detects an AFR higher than the user-defined limit, the injector will fire. Unlike a typical electronic fuel injection system, the ECI works cooperatively with your existing carburetor, supporting the fuel flow rates that high-horsepower vehicles require to operate efficiently. If your engine is performing lean, K&N's ECI systems will help make up for the fuel deficit. A properly operating idle air control valve is an essential component to helping your vehicle run flawlessly. These valves are often referred to as idle air control or IAC valves (GM), automatic idle speed or AIS valves (DCX), and throttle air bypass solenoid or AIR valves (Ford). These idle air control valves are used on both throttle body and multi-port fuel injected engines to regulate idle speed. The IAC valves open a small bypass circuit that allows air to flow around the throttle. Increasing the volume of air that's allowed to bypass the throttle increases idle speed.
