They feature impact-forged aluminum threaded body monotube, gas-pressurized shocks that have been clear anodized for corrosion protection. Other features include: oversized rod guides for maximum strength and durability; Delrin coilover spring washers for easy spring retainer adjustments; stainless steel mounting brackets; and CNC-machined billet hardware. The shocks include Hyperco springs (made with high-tensile premium cold-wound steel) that have a durable powdercoat finish. AFCO Racing 89 Series monotube gas shocks were specifically developed to bring optimum performance, quality, and tunability to the Modified racing market. The shocks incorporate flow-matched billet aluminum pistons and base valves that were developed in-house using 5-axis CNC machining technology and EMA dyno capability. AFCO 89 Series shocks are called "bulb" shocks, referring to the steel gas reservoir that has been weight and size optimized for better fit without increasing pressure gain.
