TurboStart voltage step down modules are recommended when using a 16 V battery in vehicles with an alternator--especially in long races. They are more effective than 3-post 16 V batteries (which can be susceptible to cell imbalance) in mixed voltage situations where sensitive 12 V components are used. The 12 V components can be connected to the voltage step down box to effectively "resistor" them. TurboStart step down modules feature a heavy-duty aluminum heat sink, diodes, and high-quality stranded wire to deliver reliable connections. They are under-hood safe, and can be mounted in almost any location.
