TurboStart voltage step down modules are recommended when using a 16 V battery in vehicles with an alternator--especially in long races. They are more effective than 3-post 16 V batteries (which can be susceptible to cell imbalance) in mixed voltage situations where sensitive 12 V components are used. The 12 V components can be connected to the voltage step down box to effectively "resistor" them.
