Trail-Gear assembled Super Finish third members are made from tool-grade 8620 steel and heat-treated for maximum strength and wear resistance. They include all new parts and are ready to drop into your axle with top-quality Super Finish 29-spline ring and pinion gears, and your choice of locker. The ring and pinion gears are treated with the REM Isotropic Super Finishing (ISF) process, which removes the microscopic peaks in the material and creates a surface on the ring and pinion gears with a roughness of less than 10 µin Ra. This means that there is less friction between the gears, reducing wear by 95 percent, and allowing the gears and bearings to run cooler and last longer. Select the ideal kit for your application. Additional features and benefits: * Fully built Super Finish 3rd members--all new parts--no used housings or internal components * 29-spline pinion spline is 7 percent larger in diameter than the 27-spline for increased strength * Available in 4.88 and 5.29 ratios for 4-cylinder, V6, and high-pinion applications * Gear teeth are cut using Gleason CNC hobbing machines and cutters * No break-in period * Non-directional surface that increases lubricant retention on the gear surface, reducing lubrication requirements * Dust shield pre-installed onto flange * High-pinion sets also include a high-pinion oil slinger * V6 units feature larger OEM-style V6 gear sets with a longer pinion gear * Trail-Safe pinon seal and nut included * Flange is quadruple drilled with popular Pickup/4Runner and Tacoma patterns: -- 66mm x 66mm x 11mm (Tacoma) -- 60mm x 60mm x 10mm (Pickup/4Runner and TG heavy-duty driveline) -- 60mm x 68.3mm x 10mm -- 61.5mm x 70mm x 10mm Notes: * Requires ring and pinion setup kit to complete the installation into your existing differential housing * For Toyota 8 in. solid axles only.
