Tilton Engineering relied upon their 50 years of world-renowned experience in racing clutches to develop the ST-246 twin disc clutch kits for the high-performance street market. These aren't just another run-of-the-mill replacement—they're a true performance twin disc clutch and are available with either sprung-hub organic or solid-hub cerametallic discs, depending on your application. Where the upper limits of OEM-design ends, Tilton ST-246 twin disc clutch kits begin! Order the model recommended for your vehicle application. Features, items, and specs may include: * Precision-machined aluminum clutch cover for high-strength, stiffness, and better balance than OE-type stamped steel covers * High-mass main pressure plate and floater plate resist warpage and offer high-heat capacity * Heavy-duty straps attach plates to minimize noise and provide clean clutch release * High-strength/durability billet chromoly steel flywheel with precision register for optimal balance * Compatible with most OEM release bearings or Tilton's hydraulic release bearings * Sprung-hub organic option: less vibration/noise, smoother engagement, up to 850 lbs.-ft. of torque * Solid-hub cerametallic option: higher strength, more precise engagement, up to 1,250 lbs.-ft. of torque

Tilton's 6-leg 5.5 Ultra clutch assemblies are a direct replacement or upgrade for the QM Optimum clutch—and they're Tilton's lightest weight 5.5 in. metallic racing clutch. The Ultras are designed and manufactured using proprietary materials and processes that increase service life of the clutch internals. They feature a rigid clutch cover that resists deflection, plus hardened steel thrust buttons installed into the legs—thus providing the most durability and highest performing clutch for the money, bar none. These clutches are rated for 500 lbs.-ft. of torque for two plate assemblies, and up to 750 lbs-ft. for three clutch units.

Cast flywheels are not explosion-proof and can be dangerous when used in high performance applications at higher rpm. Tilton flywheels are recommended as replacements for factory-cast flywheels in high performance and racing vehicles. They're better for launching heavier drag race cars and provide better drivability in street vehicles. Tilton flywheels are CNC-machined from certified materials, and friction surfaces are Blanchard-ground parallel to the crankshaft mounting flange, for minimum runout and optimum clutch engagement. These flywheels are SFI-approved.

Tilton OT-Series Cerametallic clutch kits are primarily designed for racing applications. They utilize a unique blend of ceramic and metallic materials to create superior 4-paddle discs that allow for some clutch modulation. Because cerametallic discs are thicker than sintered metallic discs, their increased mass provides higher heat capacity. Plus, the engagement characteristics of cerametallic clutches are smoother than sintered metallic clutches. These features have made Tilton cerametallic clutches popular in rally, hill climb, club-racing, off-road, and extreme street/strip applications. Features include: * Open, one-piece clutch cover design; provides lower operating temperatures, higher strength and minimized deflection for quick shifting * Several spring rate options; provide a wide range of torque capacities and release loads to tune the clutch for the application * Chrome vanadium diaphragm springs and engineered pressure plate geometry; provide high clamp load-to-wear ratio, low release loads, and quick shifting * High-strength steel pressure and floater plates * 0.283 in. thick friction discs; provide excellent wear resistance and withstand elevated temperatures * Hardened steel thrust buttons; provide a smooth and durable surface for pressure and floater plates * Dynamic spin balanced * Individually inspected for proper assembly and balance
