A turbocharger is one of the most effective ways to add serious horsepower to your engine—and Summit Racing’s turbo lineup is ready to deliver. Whether you’re after responsive street performance or all-out track domination, we’ve got the boost solution you need.
From small-displacement street cars to high-horsepower race machines, Summit Racing turbochargers are engineered to fit a wide range of builds. Choose from various compressor and turbine sizes to match your power goals, driving style, and engine setup.
Our turbos are designed with high-efficiency compressor wheels and advanced turbine housing geometry to move more air with less lag, giving you quick throttle response and a strong, sustained pull through the powerband.
Summit Racing turbochargers are manufactured from premium materials, with heat-resistant turbine housings and precision-balanced rotating assemblies to ensure smooth, reliable operation under extreme boost pressures.
Choose from journal bearing designs for cost-effective durability or ball bearing setups for lightning-fast spool and reduced friction. Many models are available with your choice of an internal or external wastegate housing for easy boost control.
Each turbo is rigorously tested to ensure it meets strict performance and quality standards. From the compressor housing to the turbine wheel, every component is optimized for long life and consistent performance—so you can spend more time driving and less time wrenching.
A. A turbocharger uses exhaust gases from your engine to spin a turbine wheel, which is connected by a shaft to a compressor wheel. The compressor draws in and compresses fresh air before sending it into the engine’s intake manifold. By forcing more air into the cylinders, the engine can burn more fuel, creating significantly more power compared to natural aspiration—all without requiring additional engine displacement.
A. A properly matched and installed turbo will not harm your engine, but excessive boost pressure or poor tuning can cause detonation, overheating, or bearing failure, and inadequate fuel delivery or insufficient cooling can lead to problems. Running too much boost for your engine’s compression ratio, ignoring proper oiling requirements, or using low-quality components can lead to parts failure. Correct tuning, high-quality parts, and regular maintenance are key to turbo reliability.
A. It depends on the size of the turbo, your engine’s displacement, compression ratio, fuel system, and tuning. A mild street setup might add 30–70% more horsepower, while a well-built performance engine with a larger turbo can see gains of 100% or more. The goal is to choose a turbo sized for your power target without sacrificing drivability.
A. Most modern turbos are designed to last well over 100,000 miles with proper care. Regular oil changes with high-quality oil, ensuring your air filter is clean, and allowing the turbo to cool down after hard driving will greatly extend its life. If you notice excessive smoke, whining noises, or a drop in boost pressure, it may be time for inspection or rebuilding.
