Race failure is a chronic problem with high-torque loads causing race fractures at two stress points: the radial lube holes and the sharp inside corners at the base of the outer splines. Sonnax outer races are engineered with offset lube holes so rollers never travel directly over the holes, and they are spaced so only one roller is ever positioned near a hole, radically reducing the risk of fracture. Worn babbit pump bushings in your GM Powerglide, 350, 400, or Allison AT540 transmission can allow the converter hub and inner pump gear to move off-center, thus causing damage to pump gears and the pump housing crescent. You can replace the worn originals with automatic transmission oil pump bushings from Sonnax. Sonnax hydraulic line pressure booster kits contain stronger pressure regulator springs and large ratio boost valves designed to work together, providing progressive pressure increases as driving conditions become more demanding. Their springs are approximately 10 percent stronger than OEM and more conservative in impact than other aftermarket kit springs. Large ratio boost valves provide higher pressure incrementally and when it's needed the most. In GM TH350 and TH350C units, the intermediate servo bore becomes scored from repeated cycling. The spring side of the piston has line pressure present in R, N, D. Excess leakage at the servo piston results in low line pressure and delayed engagements. During forward speeds, oil loss affects shift quality and reduces clutch life. Sonnax TCC regulator and isolator valve kits assist in recovering hydraulic control and renew TCC performance. Severe wear of the TCC (torque convertor clutch) regulator valve bore, caused by oscillation of the OE valve, allows the regulated converter to apply pressure to your exhaust. This is a primary cause for TCC-related slip code and overheated converters. Exhaust pressure also diminishes line pressure, which can result in burnt clutches. Excess wear at the isolator valve bore reduces TCC apply pressure. Reconditioning the bore and installing a Sonnax TCC regulator and isolator valve kit will restore normal TCC operation by reestablishing the hydraulic integrity of this circuit.
