Transmissions showing symptoms of soft shifts from 1-2 or 2-3, periodic harsh shifts, or low line rise may be able to correct the problems with one of these Sonnax Line Pressure Modulator Plunger Valve kits. When sleeves become worn, electronic pressure control (EPC) oil can leak past the valve to cause the soft shifts; valves will also stick or hang up through wear, leading to the rough shift issue. Sonnax kits include a replacement modulator sleeve made from carbon steel to combat extreme wear, along with a durable plunger valve crafted from hardened alloy steel. Sonnax throttle valve plunger kits address the poor line rise or no detent downshifts that can be common complaints in vehicles with a stock overdrive transmission. The steel plunger continuously reciprocates within the aluminum sleeve, wearing out the sleeve. This wear (plus the weak OE spring) allows throttle valve feed oil to leak past the plunger and exhaust, resulting in the aforementioned issues that can lead to 3-4 clutch failure. Sonnax servo release check valve kits are unique solutions. Since the GM 4L60 (700-R4) and 4L60-E Series transmissions were introduced, they have had inadequate metering of 2nd gear band servo release oil resulting in 3-4 clutch pack failure. The 3-4 clutch pack and 2nd gear band are just not properly synchronized. Sonnax servo release check valve kits combine an orifice with a ball check valve to resolve these issues and successfully extend the life of 3-4 clutches, and improve the 2-3 shift feel. Sonnax hydraulic line pressure booster kits contain stronger pressure regulator springs and large ratio boost valves designed to work together, providing progressive pressure increases as driving conditions become more demanding. Their springs are approximately 10 percent stronger than OEM and more conservative in impact than other aftermarket kit springs. Large ratio boost valves provide higher pressure incrementally and when it's needed the most. Wear at the piston pin bore surface can result in poor shift quality and burnt clutches and bands. Sonnax pinless accumulator piston kits prevent pin bore leakage.
