Sonnax cooler line repair kits allow case salvage without transmission removal. A common complaint in late-model Chrysler rear-wheel-drive units is a cracked and/or leaking case caused by installing the cooler lines. The tapered threads and the lack of a stop on the OE cooler line fitting can load the case and create a fracture, resulting in leakage that may require replacing the case. Sonnax kits feature adapters that seal on the leading edge, preventing fluid from reaching the fitting threads and crack. Vehicles with a GM 8L45 or 8L90 automatic transmission may exhibit high or low line pressure that results in harsh/soft shifts, burnt clutches, loss of cooler and lube flow, and overheating of the transmission and converter. These problems may be caused by wear of the pressure regulator bore casting at the VFS signal port area and/or at the shuttle valve sleeve. Wear at the inboard port of the pressure regulator bore allows VFS (throttle) signal pressure to leak, preventing proper action of the pressure regulator valve and potentially allowing it to remain in the low line pressure position. Wear of the shuttle sleeve due to continuous oscillation of the shuttle valve creates a path for balance line pressure at the pressure regulator valve to exhaust, resulting in excessive low line pressure. Sonnax drop-in pressure regulator and shuttle valve kits restore hydraulic integrity to the lineup by addressing wear that subjects the transmission to either excessively high or low line pressure with upgraded materials and unique designs. Continuous oscillation in relay valve and sequence valve bore causes wear that prevents proper hydraulic control. You can recover hydraulic control and renew 2nd and 4th gear operation by reconditioning the entire bore and installing a Sonnax oversized 4-3 sequence valve kit. These kits address wear on the inboard two spools that is increasingly more common in aging valve bodies. Wearing at these spools can allow valuable 4th servo feed leakage, resulting in no 4th and 2-4 band wear, and can also allow leakage of 2nd clutch oil needed to apply the 2-4 band in 2nd gear, resulting in poor 2nd gear shifts.
