Input shaft failure is a common problem in performance GM 4L80-E and 4L85-E automatic transmissions running with extreme horsepower. OE and aftermarket shafts simply don't hold up in these conditions, leading to spline twist and shaft breakage. In place of the 2-piece shaft/hub, Sonnax uses a much stronger, one-piece design that eliminates the OE assembly's weak, welded connection.
