Racepak AF1 single channel air fuel sensor packages are designed to be utilized with any of Racepak's Vnet (canbus) series of data loggers. They are suitable for use with gasoline or alcohol, with calibration values available for either fuel types. The power supply requirement of 12 to 16 volts enables use with standard 12 volt or 16 volt high performance batteries. Racepak's Vehicle Network (V-Net) is a "smart data" transfer network able to transmit multiple signals from sensors over a single cable. The key to the V-Net system is the modular connectors that attach each of the devices to the main cable. For a function or component to be monitored on the V-Net, the signal from that device must pass through a sensor and its module (essentially a miniature computer) that identifies and retrieves only the proper incoming signals and allows other signals to pass through. The sensor measures the input from the function or device (i.e. rpm, pressure, temperature, etc.), while the module converts the signal so it can be transmitted over the V-Net. Shock travel sensors are linear potentiometers that record the slightest amount of suspension movement. Monitoring the extension and compression of the shock absorbers aids greatly in understanding what the chassis is doing. It is a principal means of evaluating suspension movement and chassis setup. Regardless of your type of racing, Racepak shock travel sensors provide information that is frequently crucial to separating winners from the also-rans. They are usually connected through an analog port of a data recorder (sold separately) and monitored at high sample rates. Racepak switch modules provide the ability to use existing switches in conjunction with a SmartWire module. By installing Racepak wheelie bar load cells on both of your wheelie bars, you can create a record of how long and how hard the car was on the wheelie bars. For your data recorder to be able to monitor an analog channel it must receive a signal that it can recognize. The Racepak Module PT2 convert the analog parameters to a standard 0-5 volt signal required by the recorder. The transducer module (combination sensor and signal conditioning modules) provides direct connection to the measured parameter, such as fuel or oil pressure. The signal conditioning module allows the connection of remote sensors, such as thermocouples or position sensors, to the data recorder.
