Memory function stores rev limits, while built-in reverse polarity and over-current protection shuts down the system to prevent damage. PerTronix distributors feature lubricated bronze lower bushings and upper ball bearings—which work in conjunction for decreased friction and high rpm vibration—and an adjustable mechanical advance (with limiting functions) permits multiple settings. This allows 48 percent more peak current to reach the spark plug, compared to their Street/Strip HEI distributors. That's an enormous improvement over stock HEIs and most aftermarket HEI distributors. A specially designed vacuum lockout mechanism prevents timing adjustments that change rotor phasing, adversely affecting the burn time and efficient fuel combustion. The rotor plates are TIG-welded to the mechanical advance mechanism, preventing high-rpm distortion and improving mechanical reliability.
