Nitro Gear and Axle direct-fit axle shafts are offered in 1541H steel or 4340 alloy (chromium and molybdenum—aka, chromoly). Steel axles are heat-treated carbon steel with 41 percent or less impurities. They provide tensile strength of 181,000 psi, which equals up to a 35 percent increase in strength over stock. Chromoly axles are a lower carbon steel with a minimum 10 percent chromium and tensile strength of 228,000 psi. Both axles take more punishment to get you further down the trail—or off it entirely.
