MSD Pro-Billet Ready-to-Run Distributors
MSD Pro-Billet Ready-to-Run distributors are the perfect upgrade for weak OE electronic distributors, outdated points distributors, and large HEIs or DuraSparks. All that's required is to install the distributor in the engine, and connect three wires and the coil! A maintenance-free magnetic pickup accurately triggers this ignition with increased output from the amplifier, easily outperforming stock ignitions. It will smooth out the engine's idle, improve starting, and perform at a much higher rpm. The housing is machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum, using state-of-the-art CNC mills and lathes for a unit with no porosity or weak areas. For stability and endurance, an oversized steel shaft spins in a top-mounted sealed ball bearing, while an extra-long sintered bushing guides the shaft at the base of the housing. This shaft also receives a QPQ coating for low friction wear and resistance against corrosion from humidity and ozone buildup. The distributors feature MSD's adjustable mechanical advance, which allows you to custom-tailor an ignition curve to match your engine's needs. MSD Pro-Billet Street Distributors
MSD Pro-Billet Street distributors are a popular choice for those who desire race-proven performance for their street machine. A vacuum advance canister provides improved economy, and the proven MSD mechanical advance mechanism allows you to dial in a timing curve to fit your needs. As always, an advance kit of springs and stop bushings is included. The housing features an all-billet 6061-T6 aluminum design for accuracy to within .001 in. An oversized steel shaft is QPQ-coated for low friction, and rides in sealed ball bearings at the top and bottom of the distributor. An extra-long sintered bushing replaces the ball bearing at the bottom for Chevrolet models. This combination keeps the shaft steady, creating accurate spark delivery at any rpm. They rely on a magnetic pickup to trigger the MSD ignition control, which delivers the powerful sparks to the coil. This pickup is extremely accurate and never needs adjusting. MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Spark Plug Wire Sets
MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor spark plug wire sets feature a special helically wound core that has just 40-50 ohms of resistance per foot—but with an RFI suppression equal to a 1,500 ohm wire. In fact, each foot of finished wire includes 40 ft. of tightly wound copper for superior conductivity. This winding procedure, combined with a ferro-magnetic impregnated center core, produces an extremely effective Electro Magnetic Interference "choke." This choke, or suppression capability, keeps the EMI inside the wire where it cannot interfere with other electronics on your vehicle. A tough, 8.5mm synthetic/silicone jacket over an extra-heavy glass braid and dielectric insulator keeps the current guided to the plugs.
