Low Range Off-Road backing plate eliminators solve the problems caused by flimsy factory disc brake backing plates (also called dust shields). They often get bent from even the slightest touch. Small rocks can get trapped between the backing plate and the rotor causing noise and damage. LROR backing plate eliminator kits include two spacer rings that take the place of the OE backing plates. The rings are the same thickness as stock backing plates for proper component spacing. Low Range Off-Road dust shield eliminators are also available in an "Ultimate" version that not only eliminates the backing plate but also includes an integrated brake line holder. To prevent damage, they virtually eliminate all brake hard line movement. With axle upgrades or rear disc brake conversions, the OE parking brake may be deleted or inoperable. Low Range Off-Road transfer case mounted E-brake/parking brake kits solve these problems by adding a mechanical disc brake on the output shaft of the transfer case. Most kits use the stock parking brake cable. They provide dramatically increased braking over the stock emergency/parking brake--with fewer parts to maintain and no low-hanging cables to be snagged by rocks. Low Range Off-Road transfer case mounted E-brake/parking brake kits take advantage of the gear ratio in the differential to multiply the force applied to hold the truck in place. They will typically hold on a 45 degree hill with the transmission in neutral. Features of Low Range Off-Road transfer case mounted E-brake/parking brake kits include: * Bolts onto the back of the transfer case with no drive shaft modifications * Can be used with drum or disc rear brakes. * Heavy-duty TIG-welded brackets * Bi-color zinc plating and durable black powdercoated finishes for corrosion resistance * All parts needed for installation included, with instructions Notes: * Drilling may be required to secure OE brake cable. * May not work with some non-LROR aftermarket transfer case crossmembers or skid plates. * Swapping to a flange with larger bolt holes may be necessary. * Installation may require removing and reinstalling the transfer case output flange. * Certain vehicles may require re-drilling the rotor. * Fuel lines closest to the rotor may need to be relocated. * If skid plate lifts the transfer case too much, trimming and boxing of floorboard may be required. * On some vehicles with an electronic speedometer pickup, an adapter is required (sold separately).
