The external reservoirs allow for increased oil and nitrogen capacity, while delivering a striking race look. And the shock's race-developed, high-flow damping piston is matched with application-specific valving to provide a predicable ride quality capable of handling the roughest road conditions. Performance Series shocks are available for front and/or rear applications from 1984 and up. These shocks are designed to be used in a BDS 4 in. or 6 in. lift system. The mono-tube design's internal reservoir separates the shock oil from the high-pressure, nitrogen-charged gas chamber. The IFP eliminates oil aeration allowing maximum performance from the factory-tuned, precision valving. A custom-molded spring seat allows the use of the stock spring and mounting hardware. The precision, impact-extruded 2 in. one-piece aluminum body is both lightweight and rust-resistant. Two predetermined preload settings allow a choice of 4- or 6-inches of lift. A type II anodized aluminum body efficiently dissipates heat and prevents corrosion. Fox Performance 2.5 in shock bodies feature an internal floating piston (IFP) to separate the shock oil from the high-pressure nitrogen, optimizing damping. They also feature Hydraulic Top Out (HTO) technology that offers usable position-sensitive rebound damping control on and off the pavement. HTO reduces harsh top-outs and increases comfort by forcing shock oil through a secondary shim stack to slow down shock shaft speed, which is particularly beneficial after installing heavier, aggressive tires and applications lifted higher than OEM specification.
