Edelbrock may be best known for performance parts, but the company also make a range of dress up parts that make your engine look as good as it runs. Since the 1950s, Edelbrock has manufactured valve covers for a variety of American V8s and straight 6s. Today, it offers covers that fit a long list of performance engines.
Edelbrock offers a wide range of chrome and black valve covers with both contemporary and classic styling. However, they’re not just for looks. If you install roller rocker arms on your valve train, you may need a set of tall valve covers to get enough space to clear the stud girdles. Be sure to double check the clearance between the girdles and the baffles inside the valve cover before installation. If you don’t need the extra height, go with low profile valve covers. They offer more clearance for accessory brackets.
When it comes to styling, Edelbrock has several options for your engine. Classic series finned valve covers give your engine a vintage look. These cast aluminum valve covers are based on designs Edelbrock manufactured in the 1950s. If you want something more modern, Elite II covers mimic 80s performance covers that Edelbrock previously manufactured, while adding a few modern touches. The company also makes stamped steel chrome valve covers and flat racing covers.
What engines can you get these valve covers for? Here are just a few examples:
BBC valve covers for 1965 and later Chevy big block engines.
Edelbrock SBC valve covers for Chevy small blocks built between 1959 and 1986, and center bolt valve covers for 1987-1995 small block engines.
Edelbrock Chevy LS valve covers that are compatible with all 1995 and later Chevy small blocks.
Small block MOPAR valve covers, including versions that fit Magnum and Wedge engines built between 1958 and 2003.
Ford 302 valve covers fit 302 and 5.0 small blocks as well as the 260, 289, and 351W.
When installing your new Edelbrock valve covers, be sure to follow the engine manufacturer’s valve cover torque specs to get a good seal around the head. Edelbrock’s valve cover seals are designed to be installed without sealants. You can use an adhesive to attach the seal to the cover for easier installation, but the head side of the seal must remain dry. Hold down tabs must be used with stamped steel covers. These tabs spread the torque load, helping the cover get a good seal.
