In 1938, Vic Edelbrock built his first intake manifold so he could get more power from his 1932 Ford roadster. After some modification, his “slingshot” manifold helped his flathead Ford set a new quarter mile record. Word got around about this manifold, leading Edelbrock to go into manufacturing after the end of World War II. As Vic and his successors continued to chase increased performance, his company spread into new markets. Today, Edelbrock is one of the largest producers of aftermarket performance parts in the world. They're intended for small block Chevy engines fitted with either 1996 and later cast iron Vortec heads or Edelbrock E-Tec aluminum heads. Edelbrock Performer RPM Vortec intake manifolds are based on their highly successful Performer family. They're designed for street rods, marine applications, and a host of engine swaps using small block Chevy V8s with 1996 and later Vortec (L31) cast iron heads or Edelbrock's E-Tec aluminum heads. They accept single square bore carbs only and have an external water bypass boss machined into the front of the water crossover for use on 1996 and later Vortec production engines.
