The sintered valve seat insert offers a blend of finely dispersed tungsten carbide, residing in a matrix of tempered tool steel and special alloy iron particles. The superior machinability is the result of adding proprietary ingredients and solid dry lubricants to this blend—and by using a special processing technique during manufacturing. As a result, these are much easier on cutting tools and won't have the typical chunks of carbide. Special additives blended into the matrix impart high-temperature lubrication properties which makes the material impervious to extreme heat and machining, enabling it to be used in "dry" fuel applications such as propane (LPG) and natural gas. Dura-Bond 70000 Series valve seat inserts are more than adequate to withstand the demands of modern engines that put a higher level of thermal and mechanical stress on valve seat inserts. The patented materials and processes offer excellent machinability, along with low wear and high heat resistance.
