Designed from a clean slate approach, Dart now offers the Iron Eagle Mopar Gen III cast iron bare blocks that address the shortcomings of the Hemi Gen III platform, and are the ideal candidate for hot rodders, drag racers, circle track competitors, off-roaders, and high performance marine enthusiasts. By utilizing conventional style main caps with Gen III rotating assemblies and related components, Dart has addressed the windage and oil control problems, along with revising the cooling and oiling passages for improved flow. The blocks are designed to rectify some of the former LS's more noticeable shortcomings on the bottom end—while still supporting high-flow and efficient cylinder heads developed for Gen III and IV platforms. With displacements up to 455 cubic inches, the Race Series small block Chevy aluminum bare blocks are an ideal starting point for any project that involves sprint cars, modifieds, late model stock, dragsters and unlimited competition classes. Incorporated features include: * Standard 9.025 in., tall deck 9.325 in. and 9.500 in. versions allow for greater versatility. * Raised camshaft .391 in. (4.912 in. camshaft to crankshaft centerlines) provides more clearance for stroker cranks and eliminates need for fragile small base circle cams.
