The cam checking tools slide down into the lifter bore and ride on top of the camshaft in order to help measure lobe lift and base circle runout. The tools are double-ended and feature an O-ring on each end to securely hold them in the lifter bore and come complete with two followers—one for flat tappet or hydraulic cams and one for roller cams. COMP Cams XD-A Pushrods

COMP Cams's XD-A pushrods offer a game-changing method for accurately setting lash or pre-load while using non-adjustable-style rockers. These patent-pending pushrods incorporate a top section that slides 2 in. inside a wider bottom section, with one or two shims captured in-between. Proven to 9,000-plus rpm in solid roller LS applications, the system provides a 90 percent increase in bending stiffness for enhanced valvetrain stability. It also allows for lightening of a rocker arm system by 30-plus grams on the backside by removing the adjuster and required support area for threads and seating. The use of lighter rockers with XD-A adjustable pushrods allow higher rpm to be achieved by creating a much more dynamically stable valvetrain system. COMP Cam XD-A pushrods are designed especially for engines with low-mass rocker arms and a light valvetrain with drop-in fitment in LS engines. They can be adjusted over a range of .172 in. in .004 in. increments with shims. Choose the pushrods with the adjustment range needed for your setup.

Ford 4.6L/5.4L modular 3-valve engines found in 2005 and newer Mustangs are all the rage. So the question on everyone's mind becomes, "How can I further improve the performance of these powerful engines?" COMP Cams XFI VSR Modular 3V (Valve Springs Required) Camshafts deliver a great power improvement over stock levels. These cams are the next step up from the COMP Cams NSR (No Springs Required) Cams and represent a major upgrade in power production. When compared to the NSR, stock valve spring compatible cam series, the VSR cams offer a substantial power gain in the higher rpm ranges. To achieve this, a high-lift design that requires a COMP Cams Beehive Valve Spring upgrade was created to maximize power within the limits of the OEM unmodified cam phasers. These new VSR camshafts are available for both naturally aspirated and supercharged engines, with two levels available in each series; one designed for maximizing mid-range power and torque, while the other maximizes top end horsepower. The performance secret behind these camshafts is in the extensive dyno testing that allowed them to determine precise cam timing events. Combining these optimized timing events with a high-lift lobe design offers substantial improvements in both power and throttle response. Designed to work flawlessly with the factory VCT, which is programmed to retard the cam timing above 4500 rpm, the new COMP Cams XFI VSR Ford 4.6L/5.4L Modular 3V Cams optimize both mid and high rpm performance.

When building a high performance engine with a solid or solid roller cam, it's necessary to meter the amount of oil going through the lifters and up to the rocker arms. Too much oil to the top will starve the main and rod bearings and cause engine failure. COMP Cams oil restrictors are easy-to-use parts and should be considered when installing a solid lifter or a solid roller camshaft. Simply screw directly into the oil gallery with no machine work.

COMP Cams Camshaft Lobe Center Marking Tools

COMP Cams camshaft lobe center marking tools are constructed of aluminum and include three sizes to cover all common lifter bore diameters. With these tools, the user marks the cam lobe with a type of marking fluid, installs the cam, and then places the tool in the lifter bore. Next, the cam is turned over to mark a line around the cam lobe. The cam is then removed, and the distance from the edge of the lobe is measured. Finally, shims are changed to achieve the correct lobe-to-lifter alignment. The kits include marking tools for .842 in., .875 in., and .904 in. lifter bore diameters. Each part has 1/4-20 threads for the bolt in the top.

COMP Cams Crankshaft Stroke Gauge Stands

Save valuable time during engine assembly and tuning with COMP Cams crankshaft stroke gauge stands. They are designed to work with various engine types and can be used with dial calipers, making them a valuable and versatile tool for engine builders. These units do the same job as the more expensive stroke gauges, except that they use a set of 0-6 in. dial calipers (not included) instead of a long range dial indicator. Just set it up on the crankshaft main journals, zero the calipers at the top of the rod journal, then rotate the crank to the bottom of the stroke and take your reading to .001 in. You can even use this versatile tool on assembled short blocks by zeroing the calipers on the piston at TDC and measuring down to BDC.
