Chevrolet Performance Bowtie Big Block Chevy Cast Iron Engine Blocks
Chevrolet Performance Bowtie big block Chevy cast iron engine blocks are CNC-machined. The race-prepared blocks feature blind head and accessory mounting bolt holes, a deck configuration that enables the use of any big block Chevy cylinder head—and cylinder bores that may be safely bored to a 4.600 in. maximum diameter, while maintaining a .250 in. minimum cylinder wall thickness. These engine blocks differ from the production-machined Bowtie versions in certain areas; they start from raw castings and are not "conversions." They also use a rear seal adapter to convert the Gen V/VI one-piece rear main seal to a Mark IV type 2-piece seal that facilitates the use of a widely available Mark IV style crankshaft. The intermediate caps also feature 16 splayed outer bolts, which anchor the caps into the strongest section of the blocks and prevent bearing cap movement under high loads. The main oil gallery on these blocks is relocated and enlarged to a 9/16 in. diameter to allow increased oil flow through the block. These Bowtie blocks have inner head bolt bosses, which allow for better retention of the cylinder heads in high-horsepower applications when the cylinder heads "lift" from the blocks due to high cylinder pressures. Chevrolet Performance ZZ632/1000 Deluxe Long Block Crate Engines
Chevrolet Performance's ZZ632/1000 deluxe long block crate engines are their biggest and baddest big blocks! They start with a tall deck Sportsman Bowtie block and an all-forged roller assembly, then add a hydraulic roller camshaft and high-flow spread-port CNC-machined cylinder heads derived from Pro Stock racing technology. The RS-X design cylinder heads feature symmetrical ports to produce similar power from all eight cylinders. ZZ632 crate engines have a crank-trigger ignition system with coil-near-plug ignition coils mounted on a unique valley plate. Included is a pre-programmed, self-learning control system for precise fuel control and amazing output on premium pump gas. These big block engines reach peak power at 6,600 rpm and rev to a recommended maximum of 7,000 rpm. Chevrolet Performance Bowtie aluminum cylinder heads offer an ideal combination of street drivability and drag-strip performance. These aluminum cylinder heads provide a broad power range with ample low-end torque, along with excellent throttle response, good mid-range torque and enough top-end power to beat your competitors to the finish line. Designed for high performance applications, the Bowtie Street cylinder heads are manufactured to precise machining tolerances, with thick deck surfaces and high-velocity airflow passages. They are available in either rectangular or oval intake port configurations. The rectangular intake ports are larger in volume and have been designed to enhance high-rpm horsepower, which makes them best for vehicles that see frequent drag-strip action. Here, at last, is the king of all big block crate engines from Chevrolet Performance. These 502 cu. in. engines are available unassembled or fully assembled. Each version makes extensive use of aluminum to keep weight down—including aluminum heads, intake, water pump, and valve covers. Additionally, ZZ502 c.i.d. deluxe long block crate engines are full of heavy-duty parts, such as: forged aluminum pistons, forged shot-peened steel connecting rods with 7/16 in. bolts, forged steel crankshaft, 14 in. automatic transmission flexplate, 4-bolt main blocks, stainless steel valves, 6 qt. oil pan, and windage trays. The complete Chevrolet Performance engine kits come with Gen 6 four-bolt main blocks with one-piece rear main seals. Hydraulic roller camshaft specs are: .527 in. intake lift, .544 in. exhaust lift; the duration at .050 in. for intake is 224, and 234 for exhaust with a 112-degree lobe centerline. If you want big block power for your ride but want to have a say in the final product, Chevrolet Performance has the solution. Their 502 c.i.d. short blocks can be configured to deliver all of the muscle you want. The heart of these powerhouses is the same short block that GM uses for their 502 c.i.d., 502 hp bruiser—so you know they can crank out the power. Chevrolet starts with a Gen VI 4-bolt main block with a one-piece rear main seal and priority oiling for the main bearings. To that, they add: an externally balanced, forged crank that's shot-peened and magnafluxed; forged steel "dimple" connecting rods; forged aluminum pistons; a single-roller heavy-duty timing chain set; and a hydraulic roller camshaft. The cam has 0.527 in. of intake lift and 0.544 exhaust lift, with 110 degrees of lobe separation. Duration at 0.050 in. of lift is 224 degrees for the intakes, and 234 for the exhausts.
