Strength was added by thickening up the flanges of the H-beam and a reduced depth-of-cut towards the center of each rod, then non-essential weight is taken out of the beam to help keep the overall weight of these Xtreme rods in check. Better by design, Callies Compstar connecting rods offer high performance and a trouble-free engine build. Concerns about out-of-round, big-end bore sizing, repeatability, time-saving details, and upgrade costs are a thing of the past. Their forged 4340 steel rods are put through a lengthy stress-relief process and burnishing of threads and bolt spot faces to ensure dimensional repeatability, no matter how many times rods are torn down and reassembled. Pin bushings are chamfered and honed, parting line edges are generously chamfered, and bearing locating tab slots are deburred, all in an effort to save you time and trouble. ARP 2000 bolts and stroker clearances are standard with Compstar rods. Choose either their original H-beam design or heavy-duty I-beam designed rods. Callies Ultra Assassin connecting rods are produced from specially formulated Timken Steel 4330V grade steel. The material is precision forged in Michigan and machined in the Callies Fostoria, Ohio facility. The Assassin Series are near-net, as-forged rods with minimal machining, and are fastened by high-alloy cap screws made specifically for severe-duty service by ARP Inc. To eliminate deformation and extrusion only AMS 642 bronze alloy is used within the wrist pin housing bore.

Callies Ultra XD connecting rods are configured to provide greater flexibility in cam selection for your stroker engine build. Their canted housings allow a larger lobe/base circle/lift camshaft to be selected. Callies Ultra XD connecting rods provide greater rod to cam clearance to improve valvetrain performance. In most cases, Ultra XD rods will provide approximately .050 in. more cam clearance than Callies conventional Ultra rods, and substantially more than many competitors' rods. These rods are machined from premium Timken 4330 steel and are intended for severe-duty applications.
