Receiver Hitch Ball Mounts

Receiver hitch ball mounts slide into the square-tube receiver on your vehicle’s trailer hitch, and can include a hitch ball or accommodate 1 7/8", 2", or 2 5/16" balls. They are typically available in four different square shank sizes: 1 1/4" for Class 1 and 2 hitches, 2" for Class 3, 4, and 5 hitches, and 2 1/2" and 3" for Class 5 hitches. Larger shank sizes and higher class numbers indicate higher towing capacities. 1 1/4" ball mounts are typically used on cars and smaller SUVs. 2" ball mounts can be found on everything from mid-size trucks and SUVs to 1-ton pickup trucks and RVs. 2 1/2" and 3" ball mounts are for the heaviest-duty applications; 1-ton and larger pickups, RVs, semi-tractors, and other large trucks.

Ball mounts can be straight, or have a fixed rise or drop to properly match your vehicle’s height to your trailer. For drivers who have more than one tow vehicle or trailer, an adjustable height ball mount may be the answer.
