Q:

Will This Flexplate work. i would like to drop a 4L80E behind 1973 454 Big Block.

Asked by CHRISTIAN on October 03, 2017

A:

Yes, if it's a stock stroke crankshaft, it will work. I have one on my V8 S10 355 w/700R4. Solved my starter issues. Can be used with straight or offset bolt pattern starters. I use a straight bolt Tuff Stuff starter.

Not flat

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

SUM-G100SFI
The one I received was not flat, and I did not check it before bolting it up and putting the new engine back in the car. Wasn't expecting it to be a wobbler. It gave me grief with the starter. One side was .040 closer to the starter, and the starter gear would hit the flexplate and not engage. Had to shim my starter, because that was much easier than pulling my motor out again and returning the flexplate. Nuff said. Check the thing before you put it on. My bad, but really it should have been flat. ...read more

I have read the reviews and took a chance, Glad I did no problem with the flexplate A few on here said the holes are oval shaped. I matched up to 1970 OEM flexplate and holes are the same not really oval shape, they might have changed it. Very happy with the purchase. Also glad to see Made in the USA stamped on it as well.
