PRW Timing Pointers

PRW timing pointers are aftermarket engine accessories used in automotive mechanics to accurately set and read an engine's ignition timing. They work in tandem with the harmonic balancer (or damper) attached to the crankshaft.

What Do They Do?

* Provide a baseline: They serve as a static, fixed reference point on the engine block
* Reading marks: As the engine spins, the harmonic balancer rotates past the pointer. By shining a timing light, mechanics can line up the specific degree mark on the balancer with the pointer to ensure the spark plugs fire at the exact right millisecond
* The timing pointer is a critical part of any engine electronic system. They're designed to work with factory timing covers to ensure you have accurate measurement

Key features:

* Material: The pointers are typically manufactured from high-quality, durable materials like heavy-duty steel to prevent deflection at high speeds
* Adjustability: Many versions are fully adjustable, allowing the user to dial in the pointer to absolute Top Dead Center (TDC)—making it easier to accommodate aftermarket modifications, stroker kits, or replacement timing covers
* Design: They are specifically contoured to "hug" the balancer, eliminating visual parallax and giving a much more accurate reading than older, flat stamped factory pieces
