Overview

Chevrolet Performance Connect and Cruise LS7 Engine and Transmission Packages

Chevrolet Performance engineers did all the hard work, designing and calibrating carefully matched Connect and Cruise powertrain systems for optimal compatibility and performance—while also identifying the complementing engine and transmission controllers, torque converters and supporting installation kits. The specially calibrated controllers are designed for retrofit installations in older vehicles, for easier and quicker installation—and, more importantly—operation without the need for third-party tuning.

With its classic 427 cu. in. displacement, the 505 hp LS7 7.0L made its mark in the C6 Corvette Z06 and advanced its legacy in the fifth-generation Camaro Z/28. The LS7 uses a unique cylinder block casting with pressed-in steel cylinder liners to accommodate the engine's large, 4.125 in. cylinder bores—with deck-plate boring and honing for optimized bore geometry. The legendary LS7 engine is mated to a strong 4L70-E 4-speed automatic transmission capable of transmitting 470 lbs.-ft. of torque—or to the 700 lbs.-ft. torque capacity of the T56 Super Magnum 6-speed manual.

* Automatic overdrive transmission option:

The Supermatic 4L70-E transmission is based on the 4L60-E/4L65-E with increased horsepower and torque capacity. This 4-speed automatic features 5-pinion gearsets, heat-treated stator shaft splines, induction-hardened turbine shaft, 7-plate clutch and specific valve-body calibration. It has a 495 lbs.-ft. torque limit—and includes specially calibrated controllers and wire harnesses designed for retrofit installations in older vehicles

* Manual transmission option:

Chevrolet Performance T-56 Super Magnum 6-speed transmissions offer the most in combined strength, versatility, and control. Plus, they're able to withstand an unbelievable torque capacity—700 lbs.-ft.—while providing crisp shifts! These beefed-up versions of the TR6060 will certainly fill your craving for high performance with larger components. The T-56 combines greater strength with precision engineering to feed the passions of cruisers and track racers alike. Specs include:

* Designed for custom, retrofit installations of Chevrolet Performance LS crate engines
* Exterior case similar to fourth-generation F-body with stronger, high-capacity gear sets, input shaft and output shaft used in the TR6060
* 26-spline input shaft
* 31-spline output shaft
