They allow you to change the amount of ignition vacuum advance for maximum part-throttle performance while preventing harmful effects of detonation--spark knock. These kits can be adjusted as conditions permit; add more for improved throttle response and fuel economy under light loads or less for high loads and high compression engines to eliminate knock.
