Melling high-performance Class 5 camshafts are aggressive, race-grade camshafts designed for maximum horsepower and torque in highly modified engines. Engineered with a high-lift profile and wide power bands, these Class 5 cams deliver a highly aggressive exhaust note and require significant supporting engine modifications to run correctly.

Target applications:

* Designed specifically for highly modified domestic race, strip, and circle track applications
* Commonly offered for Gen-IV and Gen-V GM LS platforms (e.g., 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L engines)

Key performance characteristics:

* Basic operating RPM range: 2,950 to 6,400+ depending on the specific application
* Idle quality—rough/race idle
* Vacuum may drop to levels that prevent proper operation of power brakes or other vacuum-driven accessories
