Melling High-Performance Class 4 Camshafts
Melling high-performance Class 4 camshafts are serious, race-ready cams designed to deliver aggressive mid-to-high RPM horsepower and torque. They feature a distinct, rough idle sound and require supporting upgrades to the vehicle's exhaust, carburation or tuning, and drivetrain.
Key characteristics:
* RPM Range—engineered for mid to high-RPM power, typically peaking between 2,350 to 5,850+ depending on the specific application
* Idle—distinct, rough lope/idle quality
* Transmission/Drivetrain—must be used with a manual transmission or an automatic transmission equipped with a very high stall torque converter
* Upgraded aftermarket valve springs are required to support the aggressive lift profiles
* Vacuum—creates inadequate vacuum for power brakes and other vacuum-driven accessories
Note: Because these camshafts produce significantly less engine vacuum, they will not reliably operate power accessories like vacuum-assisted power brakes. Due to their aggressive profiles, Class 4 camshafts are not computer-controlled compatible (non-OEM tune), therefore require specific driveline modifications to function properly.
