This alternator will require a slightly shorter than stock length belt for proper belt tension. This unit comes equipped with a smaller 1.75 in. diameter alternator pulley and will require a slightly shorter drive belt for proper belt tension. If you do not use the correct shorter belt, this will result in very low to no output and create extra work load for the alternator. Not recommended for racing or sustained use above 5,000 RPM engine speed.

MechMan Elite Series Cast Alternators
MechMan Elite Series cast alternators offer great output at idle RPM and excellent durability in a direct bolt-in package. Their 6-phase technology, combined with massive twin rectifier assemblies and 12 diodes, makes these alternators totally durable for daily use, while still maintaining great output at low-rpm. These alternators will make 180 amps at engine idle speeds—with a full 250 amp output at cruising speeds. The units come with an OEM diameter pulley, making them perfect for high-rpm and racing use. They're available for fitment on a wide range of cars, trucks, and vans from the 1990s and up. Order the model recommended for your application. (Note: Elite Series cast alternators may require a rectangle to oval adapter harness if your vehicle was equipped with the CS144 heavy-duty charging option from the factory. This is not common.)
