If the transmission is to be used with an aftermarket controller in a swap application, it will be programmed with a generic VIN that will work with these controllers.
GearStar GM 6L80E Level 4 Transmissions

Unlike other high performance transmissions builders, GearStar individual transmissions are hand-built by one technician from start to finish. Before a transmission and torque converter leaves their facility, they are dyno tested for the equivalent of 100 miles, ensuring proper working condition.
