Zinc anodes are used to attract elements that tend to cause corrosion within your cooling system, thus helping to extend cooling component life and also keeping your system as efficient as it can be. Plus, these zinc anodes can be used in most radiators and overflow cans where a drain petcock fitting may be currently installed.
