Engine Works MLS Head Gaskets

Engine Works offers MLS head gaskets for a variety of applications, including many Chevy and Ford engines from 1957 and up. These durable, high performance gaskets are designed to create an optimal seal between an engine block and cylinder head. They handle high cylinder pressures and are engineered for performance and racing applications, such as popular LS V8 engine builds. The gaskets are available in a variety of bore sizes and compressed thicknesses.

Key features and benefits:

* Multi-Layer Steel Construction: They consist of two to five layers of stainless or spring steel that securely bond to prevent combustion gases, oil, and coolant from mixing
* Embossed Sealing Beads: The layers are precision-embossed to act like tiny springs. This design absorbs engine movement and adapts to the cylinder head "lifting" under high compression
* Thermal Expansion Adaptability: The layered design allows the metal sheets to slide against each other slightly, making them highly effective when sealing different metals that expand at different rates (like an aluminum cylinder head on a cast-iron engine block)
Important Installation Considerations:
* Surface Finish: MLS gaskets are rigid and require an extremely flat, mirror-smooth surface finish on both the engine block and cylinder head deck. They will not easily seal up scratches or pits that older composite gaskets could tolerate.
* Fasteners: Proper torqueing procedures and reliable head bolts or studs are strictly required to ensure even clamping pressure across the gasket.
