Crown Automotive Multiple Displacement Solenoids

Crown Automotive offers replacement solenoids for a vehicle's Multiple Displacement System (MDS). The solenoids are electro-hydraulic valves that control the oil pressure needed to deactivate cylinders in engines like the 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI V8 for improved fuel economy. These parts are manufactured from factory materials and specifications to ensure proper fitment and performance. They meet or exceed OE quality standards.

Product function and purpose:

* Controls oil pressure: The solenoid's primary function is to control the flow of oil to the engine's lifters
* Activates/deactivates cylinders: When activated, it sends pressurized oil to collapse the lifters on the specified cylinders (like cylinders 1, 4, 6, and 7), which keeps their valves from opening and effectively shuts down the cylinder
* Improves fuel economy: By deactivating cylinders, the system allows the engine to operate as a more fuel-efficient V4 under light load conditions
* Ensures proper operation: A functioning solenoid is crucial for the MDS to work correctly, which is essential for both power and fuel efficiency
