Q:

I have a 1969 Pontiac GTO, will this fit my car direct bolt in?

Asked by JEFF on December 23, 2018

A:

Yes it is direct bolt in, but will need the New rag joint that is listed with it. Your pitman arm will bolt on as it did on old box. You might have to slide your steering shaft up a little

1980 El Camino Borgeson steering box swap

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

BRG-800130
Was a bolt in for my daily driver 1980 El Camino. What an improvement over the sloppy leaky stocker. Very comparable to how my 1986 Buick Grand National steered. There was one small issue I ran into unrelated to the steering box itself. After driving it for a month or so I decided to replace the power steering pump that had been making a whining noise for some time. I replaced the pump with a rebuilt unit for my application and the noise disappeared. But,now it felt overboosted and too easy to turn. Drove it for about a week before I decided to swap my original pressure regulator fitting into the rebuilt pump. That did the trick,it now steers as it did when originally installed. My only regret is that I didn't install this steering box a couple of years sooner. ...read more

Going on a 73 Nova. I had to change the rag joint to a 3/4 from a 13/16. Just buy a new one it’s 40$ not just the rag. Went in and felt way better than stock. I bought a rebuilt and it broke. By the time you change it all and do it again because you bought a rebuild that was junk sucks. You will need to pull the header of you have those so buy new gaskets for that too. Put the new rag on the box then put in. A lift is awesome for pulling the header. For a nova just get the header out. ...read more
