Overview

Bosch Steering Booster Cylinders

Bosch steering booster cylinders (often referred to as power cylinders or operating cylinders) are hydraulic components primarily designed for heavy commercial vehicles—such as trucks, buses, and coaches—to provide hydraulic support for steering systems. They reduce the effort needed to steer, especially for front and rear axle steering, by amplifying the steering force. These cylinders are integral to Bosch's overall steering systems, which include pumps, columns, and steering gearboxes.

Key features and functions:

* Hydraulic assistance: They use pressurized power steering fluid to act on a piston, providing the necessary force to assist in turning the wheels
* Heavy-duty application: They're engineered for demanding applications requiring high steering torque, such as rear-axle steering or heavy trucks
* High performance design: Bosch cylinders feature high resistance to corrosion and robust construction, often utilizing zinc-plated surfaces for long life
* System integration: They work in conjunction with Bosch Servocom systems and hydraulic pumps for consistent, precise handling
* Typical applications:
-- Trucks and buses: Especially on vehicles with three or more axles requiring rear axle steering
-- Heavy equipment: Vehicles needing high-efficiency hydraulic steering
