ACDelco GM Genuine Parts Serial Data Gateway Modules

ACDelco GM Genuine Parts Serial Data Gateway Modules are essential, OE-certified, computerized components introduced in 2017 to manage, secure, and route data communications between a GM vehicle's internal network (such as engine and safety systems) and external access points like OnStar or infotainment systems.

Key aspects of the Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM):

* Security and protection: The SDGM isolates critical vehicle operation systems from "dirty" unauthorized access via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or OnStar, preventing malicious intrusion
* Data routing and control: It acts as a central hub for communication between various electronic control units (ECUs) and sensors throughout the vehicle
* Mandatory programming: These modules are highly specific to the vehicle, requiring specialized programming and setup procedures to function correctly
* GM OE quality: As GM Genuine Parts or ACDelco original equipment, they are designed, engineered, and tested to strict standards for durability, performance, and vehicle fit
* Commonly replaced on 2017 and newer models to address software bugs or communication faults, the modules are critical to maintaining the integrity of the vehicle's electrical system
