The good news is that the brake kit functions very well once you get everything installed. The bad news is that you may be fabricating spacers and other parts to make it all fit correctly. Right away there was a problem when they had 1/2" axle flange bolts and corresponding 1/2" holes in the brackets, but the 9" Ford axle flange bolts are 3/8". Had to fabricate concentric adapters to use the small stock bolts in the large bracket holes. 2nd problem - the offset spacers provided aligned the brake calipers about 3/8" off-center of the rotors. I had to fabricate shorter spacers for those. 3rd issue, the emergency brake lines don't even come close to reaching the e-brake brackets, haven't addressed that yet. I do have a 4" lift, but these would likely not work with a stock height truck either. I'm really happy with the performance and quality of what SSBC provided, but sure had to do a lot of fabrication for a supposed bolt-on kit. I checked SSBC and Summit's site and confirmed on both that this was the correct kit for my application, down to the axle flange hole spacing. They made a ton of 1979 F-150's, this shouldn't be so difficult. Also, there are no useful visual diagrams or photos in the instructions. Poor brake swap kit

First off, my kit came with 3 left brackets and 1 right, should have been 2 each. Had to make modification to make work. The instructions are Horrible! I am a professional mechanic so can figure the kit out but come on, the manufacturer could have put out a bit more effort with them. No pictures, no details, nothing specific. With parking brake cable mounted, caliper would not mount up, found out that the parking brake bracket supplied has to be mount in a VERY specific way, the instructions just say, mount on bottom back bolt. A bit more detail would be nice. Everything took way long then it should have. I was very excited to get this kit with my tax return money, now an wishing I would not have got it. Instructions a little out of order. Had to pull axles several times to go to the next step. Needed one modification. Axle hub had to be turned down for rotor to fit. Quality parts worth the work to install.
