Shiftworks Master Slap Shift Shifter Conversions

Shiftworks master slap shift shifter conversions are available for a variety of applications, including many Chevrolet vehicles from the 1960s and '70s. These upgrade kits allow you to modify a classic car's factory automatic floor shifter so it can control a modern transmission. They replace the inside of your original shifter to make the gears line up perfectly. A "slap shifter" lets you shift gears up and down quickly without accidentally skipping gears or hitting neutral. You pull the shifter all the way down to first gear. From there, you simply "slap" or bump the handle forward to go from first to second, and then into third/drive. It locks into place so it will not shift into a gear you do not want.

The kits generally include everything you need to connect your old shifter to a new transmission:

* New Shifter Detent: A metal plate with new notches that determine where the gear positions land.
* Gear Indicator: New lenses or numbers for your center console to match the updated gears.
* Linkage and Brackets: The specific metal pieces that attach the shifter cable to the new transmission.
* Hardware and Neutral Safety Switch: Required parts to make sure the car only starts in park or neutral and will not roll away.

These conversions are very popular for classic muscle cars (like the 1968-72 Camaro or Chevelle) when upgrading from an old 2-speed or 3-speed transmission to a modern 4-speed, 6-speed, or even 8-speed automatic.
