Overview

Norton Wool Cutting Pads

Norton wool cutting pads are abrasive or buffing attachments made with twisted or blended wool fibers, designed for heavy-duty paint correction, scratch removal, oxidation clearance, and surface prep on automotive, marine, or industrial finishes.

* Key types and sizes:
-- Super cut wool pads: Aggressive Step 1 rotary-buffer pads for deep scratches, severe defects, and heavy compounding (paired with systems like Norton Liquid Ice)
-- Farécla / Revvive single- or double-sided pads: Hook-and-loop or screw/double-sided options engineered to distribute heavy-cut compounds evenly with controlled heat dissipation

* Common applications:
-- Automotive detailing: Leveling clearcoats and removing sanding marks or heavy swirl marks before polishing
-- Marine and industrial: Restoring gel coats or oxidized painted/composite surfaces
-- Step 1 process: Used with heavy compounds where cutting power takes priority over fine gloss (which is handled in later finishing steps)

* Performance characteristics:
-- Heat management: Twisted wool fibers and proper backing design reduce localized friction heat compared to aggressive synthetic foam or flat pads
-- Product retention: Dense fiber buildup holds compounding product well during rotation
-- Compatibility: Fits standard rotary polishers (using hook-and-loop face plates or bolt-on/double-sided adapters)
